Ubisoft once again teases a new Splinter Cell

Ubisoft Spain’s Twitter may have accidentally teased another Splinter Cell. Take this with a grain of salt, though, this kind of thing has happened before, after all. The post shows a phrase that translates to: “You need to understand the darkness to face it.” The post also has an image of Fisher with his goggles.

As the years pass, it seems less and less likely there will be a continuation to the much very much missed Splinter Cell franchise. Then again, it wasn’t unknown that Ubisoft held only a sliver of interest in the series at the end of its lifespan. Ubisoft wanted to change the formula of Sam Fisher’s journey but found it difficult to sway fans who wanted it to keep by its roots.

Without the ability to keep those loyal fans and do what they wish to do, they opted to drop Splinter Cell altogether and focus on other ventures. Now, clearly this has paid off for them this generation, but fans still yearn to journey back in the shoes of former Third Echelon operative Sam Fisher.

Officially, there is nothing in the works, but of course, they may just want some time to work out the kinks before announcing it. Though, as warned, take it with a grain of salt.
